Mrs. Christine Vaughan grew up in Southwest Detroit where she attended St. Gabriel Elementary School. She graduated from St. Alphonsus High School in Dearborn, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Siena Heights University. Mrs. Vaughan is a graduate of Ecole Jacques LeCoq Theater School in Paris, France. She married and moved to Arizona where she worked on her Master of Arts in Education at the University of Phoenix. She has taught in Arizona, California, and Michigan. She has worked with autistic children as a behavior therapist both in California and in Michigan. Currently, she is enrolled in the Catholic Leadership graduate program at Madonna University.


Mrs. Shelley Bergmooser received a Bachelor of Science (with honors) degree from Madonna University with a minor in Family Life Guidance.  She has 32 years experience in the field of Early Childhood and owned and operated The Early Learning Center for 15 years.



Mrs. Therese Waddell has been a part of Catholic education her entire life. She attended St. John the Baptist Elementary School and graduated from Ladywood High School. She has been working with children since 1986. She started out as an assistant teacher in a child care setting while earning her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Elementary Curriculum from Madonna University. She later earned a Master’s degree in Literacy Education, also from Madonna University. Mrs. Waddell has been a classroom teacher within the AOD since 1993. She has taught at various grade levels ranging from preschool through 5th grade. She started and developed the preschool program at St. Raphael Catholic School from the ground up. While teaching preschool, she was also the director of both the preschool and latchkey programs. Here at St. Stephen School, Mrs. Waddell is excited to be a part of the Kindergarten learning experience, as well as, the latchkey director.


Marie Dean earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from the University of Michigan and holds an Elementary Teaching Certificate with endorsements in Language Arts and Math. She is also a certified catechist. Mrs. Dean plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in Education and earn her endorsement as a Reading Specialist. This is Mrs. Dean’s fourth year teaching 1st grade at St. Stephen School. In addition to teaching, she also serves as a member on her parish’s Education Commission and helps lead their Young Adult Ministry. Before teaching at St. Stephen, she worked as a preschool teacher for Dearborn Public Schools and has had student teaching experience in Kindergarten, 2nd, and 5th grade. Outside of classroom experience, Mrs. Dean has worked for Dearborn Parks & Recreation as a Playground Director and for Washtenaw County Parks & Recreation as a Camp Counselor.


Deborah Sylvester earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She holds a Continuing Elementary Teaching Certificate from the state of Michigan. She is certified to teach all subjects K-8 in a self-contained classroom, as well as 9th grade Science and Social Science. She has also completed catechist training and has received catechist certification through the Archdiocese of Detroit.
She has many years of experience. She began teaching 2nd grade at St. Stephen in 1987. She has had the privilege of preparing her students for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. She has been trained in the Peer Mentoring Program. She is also a member of our School Improvement Team.



Mrs. Jones has a Professional Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education for grades K-8 (self-contained classroom) with an endorsement in History. Mrs. Jones has a Bachelor’s degree in History and Elementary Education from Madonna University and a Master’s degree in Reading and Literacy from Marygrove College. She has been teaching third grade at St. Stephen School for 15 years.



Helen Oziem  earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood education. Ms. Oziem has a ZS endorsement in early childhood and is certified to teach K-5 grade.  She graduated from Madonna University in 2015 and is starting her third year of teaching.  Ms. Oziem has obtained her catechist certification through the Archdiocese of Detroit.



Sara Cripps is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn. She graduated in April of 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a focus on Social Studies and a double minor in Science and Language Arts. She is currently working toward a Master of Science in Science Education from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. She holds certifications in Elementary Education, Social Studies, Science, and Language Arts through the state of Michigan. This is her fourth year teaching.


Mrs. Krajewski is a Registered Nurse with her Associate Degree in Science from Henry Ford Community College. Mrs. Krajewski also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Science/Eastern Michigan University and a Master’s Degree in Teaching Reading/Eastern Michigan University.
She is certified in all subject areas grades K-5, Science grades 6-8, Social Studies grades 6-8. She is also a Certified Reading Specialist for grades K-8 and is a certified catechist.




Mrs. Hedges has a Professional Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education for grades K-8 (self-contained classroom). Mrs. Hedges has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Wayne State University.  She taught summer school, was a reading interventionist, and taught first grade in in Dearborn public schools. This is Mrs. Hedges second year at St. Stephen’s School teaching sixth to eighth grade English as well as teaching seventh grade homeroom. 


Ms. Hutcherson received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Wayne State University. She is certified to teach K-5 (all subjects), and 6-8 Math and Social Studies. She also completed the Educational Technology Master’s program at Marygrove College.  Ms. Hutcherson is also a certified cathecist.
